The Center for Research in Educational Development was founded in 2009 and operates under the Educational Research Institute at the University of Iceland, School of Education.
The Center’s mission is to create knowledge and promote an overview of educational development, including teaching and learning in schools.
The role of the Center is to:
- be a forum for researchers and graduate students in the field of educational development, especially in primary and secondary schools, by initiating and promoting research and collaborative projects
- disseminate research findings by organizing seminars, lectures and conferences, as well as hosting events
- strengthen research in the field by providing consulting services on conducting research projects
The board members are: Anna Kristín Sigurðardóttir, Associate Professor and Chairperson; Börkur Hansen, Professor; Ingólfur Ásgeir Jóhannesson, Professor; Kristín Á. Ólafsdóttir, Adjunct, and Kristjana Stella Blöndal, Associate Professor.
Around a dozen research projects are now connected to the Center involving over 60 researchers and graduate students, some of whom participate in international collaboration (see the list to the left on this side).
