In this guest lecture, Dr Paraskevi Thomou (Vivi) will discuss how teachers can increase multilingual students' awareness of various languages and use it for further learning.
Dr Paraskevi Thomou (Vivi) is is an Associate Professor at the Department of Primary Education at the University of Crete, Greece. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses on Greek and teaching of the Greek language. She has studied Linguistics and Applied Linguistics at University of Reading, U.K., and University of Crete. Her research interests include Multilingual Education in the Greek setting, Learning and Teaching of Vocabulary, Figurative language, Pedagogical Lexicography. She has published the book Lexical issues of the Greek language: theory and applications and has compiled a pedagogical dictionary of multi-word units (Λεξικό περιφράσεων (uoc.gr). She is a member of the European project Global teacher Education and of the Greek project Teach for integration.
